A Look Ahead…

Wednesday 1/10

Today’s Objective(s): SWBAT

  1. Develop routines around the Daily Board
  2. Set a clear academic goal for 2nd semester
  3. Articulate why that goal is worthwhile and how they plan to achieve that goal

Do Now – 10 minutes

  • For 1 minute, take turns (30 seconds each) telling your partner what we did yesterday in class.
  • On a lined piece of paper, put your name and period at the top right, then respond to the following prompt
  • Write a letter to students who were absent yesterday and tell them what we did in class yesterday.

LESSON – 40 minutes

If yesterday was about looking back, today is about looking ahead. Specifically, we’re going to set some goals connected to our 2nd semester of Challenge, so that we can be a bit more intentional about what we do, and how we do it.

First, let’s watch a quick video…

Challenge Course: Semester 2

  1. Create a personal goal for the Challenge Course this semester. Your goal should be both…
    • Worthwhile – that is, a significant and meaningful goal, and
    • Achievable – a bit of a stretch, perhaps, but doable

Write about this goal in the following way…

In the Challenge course for semester 2, my goal is to…
{Using very precise language, explain in detail what your goal is}

This is a worthwhile goal to me because…
{Using very precise language, explain in detail why this goal is worthwhile to you}

To achieve this goal, I plan to…
{Using very precise language, explain what you’re going to do to ensure you achieve this goal}

If you didn’t complete the above goal work, please complete it tonight and turn it in the moment you walk in the door tomorrow.
