Thursday 9/21/2017 – OPENING: 10 minutes

We’ll begin today by reviewing our official, hot off the press, Mountain House Contract.

You all helped to craft it, and vote on it, and now, as members of the Mountain House, we all make the commitment to live by it. We’ll discuss it as a class.

LESSON – 35 minutes

Today is all about process. Yes, I know you’re going to want to jump to solutions. To answers. But in this case, that will get you nowhere.

I’ll be projecting an image on the front screen. You, in all likelihood, will not know what the image is. Some of you might think you know, but you’ll most likely not be correct. In any event, what it is doesn’t matter.

What matters is how you’d go about figuring out what it is. And that’s what I need from you today. Working in your table groups, your job is to create step by step instructions for how you WOULD figure out what it is. In other words, here is this picture…now tell me exactly what you’d do in order to figure out what it is.

You’ll have 10 minutes to create this list, after which time we’ll collect the lists and follow each group’s instructions to see if we can figure out what we’re looking at.

The goals here are as follows:

  • Practice working together to find specific information.
  • Become familiar with the use of a tool that will serve you well, both here at school and beyond.
  • Experience what collaboration looks/feels like.
